Your Will, Our words

We are Ma Mofan "Sirius Wolf" and Lin Feiyang "Luminous", a pair of professional freelance game translators from China. We localize games from English to Simplified Chinese. We both have professional backgrounds and lots of experience. We have worked on a great number of both triple-As and indies, with more than 1 million words translated in total. We are also dedicated gamers. We love gaming and we love our profession. We hope to bring your game to a wider audience, and bring gamers joy.We want to tell your story.

TWO MINDS, ONE TEAM

We got to know each other in a TTRPG campaign in adolescence, and have been close friends since. We have worked on a great number of translation projects together, and our styles blended in naturally. We recognize that each of us has strengths and shortcomings, and we can be the best of ourselves when teamed up. Luminous has social anxiety, so Sirius does all the talking; Sirius is wild at times, and Luminous keeps him on a straight and focused mind. There are also lots of other benefits from teaming up: we can work at twice the speed of a single translator, tackle difficult parts together, review each other’s work for better quality, and provide invaluable feedback to one another.

Sirius...

... is the better editor. Seasoned and used to being language leads in projects, he guarantees quality by making thoughtful improvements and addressing concerns.
... has a sharp wit for puns and humor, and for translating them.
... is a poet (self-proclaimed). He excels at translating all sorts of poetry and rhymes, be them serious or silly.
... is a master at card games and sometimes still plays competetively.
... is the negotiator of the team, who keeps the working environment comfortable for Luminous by handling all external communication.

Luminous...

... is the better writer. Experienced in writing as well as translating, she wields a greater Chinese vocabulary to create beautiful translations.
... is more easily focused and more organized. She keeps the projects going at a steady pace.
... enjoys a greater variety of games and more games in general. (And she is usually better at them than Sirius!)
... provides wonderful insights on cultural references.
... safeguards Sirius from being consumed by pride, sloth, or insanity.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What services do you provide? We provide game localization services, including localization (translation), editing (proofreading), and Linguistic Quality Assurance (LQA). Several companies also trust us with evaluating other translators' work. We can also work as linguistic and cultural consultants. We do not work on MTPE (Machine Translation Post-Editing) projects. We firmly believe that machine translation should not be used in game localization.Due to personal values, we do not work on any game with NFT elements.Q: What kind of games do you specialize in?We specialize in RPGs, text-heavy games, story-focused games, card games, roguelikes & roguelites, adventure games, and visual novels. We are eager to expand our expertise, however, so we are willing to work on almost any kind of game and give it our best shot.Q: Why should I localize my game to Simplified Chinese? As of December 2021, Simplified Chinese is the most used Steam user language excluding English. Simplified Chinese players represent a large market in gaming, and most of them won’t or can’t game in English. An additional language can give you an extra push at launch, grant you extra support during crowdfunding campaign, and keep your game trending longer post-launch.Q: How much does your service cost? Our localization service is charged by word count, and our LQA service an hourly rate. However, prices may vary based on project scope, genre, urgency, among other factors, so we’ll only quote after learning the details about your project.
